Winter's magic colour

I initially thought I’d probably choose one of the bold pinks as Winter’s ‘suits everyone’ colour, but I kept finding myself going back and forth, thinking of Winters I’ve met who wouldn’t touch whichever colour I tried to land on. So instead, I’ve opted for Tango Red as the perfect Winter shade that works for everyone.

Not as deep as Carmine, not a zingy as Scarlet, this deep, vibrant red can be toned down or lifted up, depending on your own outfit preferences and natural colouring.

Style notes: Keep it simple in classic Red and Navy, with a splash of Acid Yellow to add the contrast that really brings your outfits to life (for a really classic look, you could use White or Silver in place of Acid Yellow).

Style notes: Keep the rest of your outfit crisp and light to really let your Tango Red stand out as the centrepiece of your look. Silver or Pink Ice make crisp alternatives to White, especially paired with reds.

Style notes: Play up the depth of colour in your Tango Red by pairing it with deeper, richer tones. For added contrast, Silver accessories can do the trick, or add a pale coloured Willow Scarf.

A final note on magic colours

You can see how much the one magic colour I’ve chosen works with the full range of the Winter palette, but the truth is that almost any colour in your palette can work well for you when it’s styled in the right way. So if you’re not keen on red, why not try another almost-universal Winter shade? My favourites are Fuchsia, Dark Emerald and Navy (always Navy rather than Black, for a safe option!), but why not take the time to discover your ultimate magic colour?
