Spring's magic colour

Spring’s magic colour feels the most straightforward. It is, of course, a shade of pink (don’t worry if you aren’t a ‘pink person’ - I’ve got a couple of back up options coming for you at the end). Initially I considered Coral, but there are those Springs on whom it is just a touch too warm and yellowish, whereas Pink Geranium sits in that perfect sweet spot of ‘warm but not too golden, bright but not too overwhelming.’

As well as the obvious fact that it looks amazing on almost every single Spring, the real magic of Pink Geranium is its surprising versatility. It becomes brighter and more confident feeling when paired in contrast with Bright Navy or True Blue, or delicate and pretty with teamed with Cream and Soft Yellow, and almost autumnal feeling when paired with Gingernut and Gold.

Style notes: Keep the contrast high with bold red and pink colour blocking, or add in a splash of your highest contrast neutrals - Bright Navy - and Soft White, for a more formal version.

Style notes: Spring doesn’t need to mean loud, bright colour combinations - your warm neutrals make the perfect backdrop for a splash of your magic colour.

A final note on magic colours

You can see how much the one magic colour I’ve chosen works with the full range of the Spring palette, but the truth is that almost any colour in your palette can work well for you when it’s styled in the right way. So if you’re not keen on pink, why not try another almost-universal Spring shade? My favourites are Watermelon, Aqua and Bright Navy, but why not take the time to discover your ultimate magic colour?
