Style masterclass: How to style Cashmerino knitwear

Nothing beats a snuggly knit to nestle into when the weather is cold outside. At Kettlewell we believe that the cosy capacities of Cashmerino remain unmatched, blending the sumptuous softness and light weight of cashmere with the warmth, smoothness and durability of merino wool.

All of our Cashmerino garments are carefully designed in the UK, and the yarn is spun, dyed, and knitted in Florence, Italy, before taking a trip to Tunisia to be finished.

Whether you love the bold colour contrast of the Cashmerino Stripe (designed in collaboration with Dame Prue Leith’s incredible stylist, Jane Galpin), the relaxed fit of the Cashmerino Cowl, or the delicate prettiness of the Cashmerino Scoop, there’s definitely a Cashmerino style for you!

This week, we turned to our talented in-house Print Designer, Bec, for her styling tips. Bec is known as the office’s fashion barometer, with her keen eye for a new trend and love of all things colour, style and self-expression. Her style, in her own words:

I love portraying a real mix of girly and androgynous when it comes to style; playing with shapes & silhouettes to create a delicate, youthful & detailed look – and of course adding a colourful print where I can! ”

Look 1

Look 1Cashmerino Cowl: Seafoam | Tailored Wool Waistcoat: Navy | straight leg jeans: Blue | heeled boots: mole/grey

Style notes: The Cashmerino Cowl is the last word in cosy, with its generous fold over neckline and oversized fit making it perfect for layering over longstanding customer favourite, the cosy Hetta Tee.

For when you need to brave the cold on the chilliest of days but don’t want to sacrifice your style, Bec has added the Tailored Wool Waistcoat, which adds pure wool warmth without bulk. The look is finished off with neat jeans and boots.

Look 2

Look 2Cashmerino Scoop: Raspberry Sorbet | Danni Culottes: Damson |  Mock Tee: Damson | Summer trainers

Style notes: As well as being a favourite of Bec’s, the Cashmerino Scoop is also a firm favourite of founder Melissa, and is regularly spotted on our amazing Colour Studio stylists too! This feminine piece combines the cosiness of cashmerino with delicate details to create a perfectly balanced winter wardrobe essential.

Bec layered the Cashmerino Scoop with a mock tee underneath for extra warmth, and added our brand new Danni Culottes and comfy trainers for a contemporary feel that doesn’t sacrifice practicality.

Look 3

Look 3Cashmerino Tank: Slate Grey | button up blouse: White |  wide leg jeans: dark Blue | ballet pumps: Red

Style notes: Bec is rarely spotted without one of her collection of tank tops, so you can imagine the excitement when the first Cashmerino Tank sample made its way to HQ, with no less than eight seasonal colours to choose from! The slightly cropped length makes it the ideal layering piece, and the boxy fit of the Tank means enough room to layer pieces underneath on those chillier Winter days.

Bec styles her tank over a loose fit blouse with ruffle detailing, and pairs with dark jeans to create a neat, feminine look. In keeping with her love of blending feminine with androgynous, Bec finished off this look with a pop of colour in her signature ballet pumps.

The Tank is true to size, so ordering in your standard size is recommended for the best fit.

Look 4

Look 4Cashmerino Stripe Sweater: Mirtillo | Jersey Maxi Skirt: Grey Teal | Cashmere Gauze Stole: Rose Bloom | trainers

Style notes: As a print designer, Bec is naturally drawn to all kinds of prints and patterns; whether ditsy floral or bold geometric, so it’s no surprise that the Cashmerino Stripe is a firm favourite of hers!

With her love of playing with unexpected shapes and silhouettes, Bec has paired the somewhat boxy shape of the Cashmerino Stripe with the flowing length of the Jersey Maxi Skirt, and finished off the look with a harmonious Cashmere Gauze Stole.

Look 5Cashmerino Stripe Scarf: Mirtillo | Velvet Wrap Jacket: Royal Blue | Silky Roll Neck: Damson | Wide leg jeans: Navy | Heeled boots: mole/grey

Style notes: If you like the look of our Velvet Wrap Jacket but worry you won't get the use out of it, Bec's solved all your problems by dressing this elegant piece for everyday wear. By pairing with relaxed wide leg jeans and our go-to-favourite Silky Roll Neck, Bec gives the Velvet Wrap Jacket a timeless look, and the bold Cashmere Stripe Scarf adds a laid back edge, turning a smart outfit into something ready for every day!

I too am a Sweet Pea Summer but I’ve always been drawn to brighter colours. I now know to always make sure they’re Cool .Fabulous to see your choices which I love. Some of the combinations I already wear but you’ve also given me a few other ideas. Thank you.

Just a note to say how much I love Bec's designs, and always look forward to the next ones. I like the stylish retro ones, and also the stunning florals that are always just a bit edgy. As a minimalist, I use these in moderation - with just a nod in the direction of a more romantic past - and a lovely pop of colour.
