Your magic colour - Winters

I initially thought I'd probably choose one of the bold pinks for Winters, but when I tried to pick one I found myself thinking 'well that won't work for deeper Winters' or 'that one's too heavy for Sprinters'. So instead, after much deliberation, I realised Tango Red was actually that perfect works-for-everyone shade. Not quite Carmine, not quite Scarlet, this deep, vibrant red works for every Winter and can be toned down or lifted up, depending on the colours you choose to pair it with.

I can't get enough of the combination of red and pink. It feels like it ought to be tonal, but actually creates a really high contrast look, especially with the finishing touch of the deepest Black Roxy Jacket.

Tango Red is deepened and made more exotic with this pairing - I love how Indigo instantly makes the outfit look deeper and darker.

This could almost be an Autumn outfit, with the is-it-warm-is-it-cool Merlot colour of the leggings, but the blue undertone to the Tango Red and the Silver accent keep it Wintery.

Ice Lavender might not feel like an obvious bedfellow with Tango Red, but I love how the Red lifts and adds contrast to this otherwise icy outfit.

A final word on magic colours

You can see from the images above how much the one magic colour I've chosen works with any of the seasonal sub-types when it's paired with the right colours. The truth is that almost any colour from your palette can be made to work for you when it's styled in the right way, and I'd love for you to experiment with a colour from your palette that you don't normally wear - maybe it will prove to be your own magic colour! Come over to the Kettlewell Colour Club and share your experiments - there's a whole group of us waiting to explore and celebrate colour along with you.

And a final final note: Honestly, I could also choose a back up magic colour for Winters too - Navy (which honestly, seems to work on every single last one of you) but it was such a sensible magic colour that I decided I needed something a little more vibrant to illustrate my point! But if you're feeling very classic and safe, do consider Navy as a really easy Winter magic colour.
