I purchased the Elle cardigan in Peony, having already purchased it in two other colours. This is the perfect cardigan for me. I love it! I had wanted it in peony earlier this year, but it was out of stock, so I was very pleased to see it back in stock. My first Elle cardigan and don't think it will be my last. I bought it last year at the Colour Studio and so glad I did as my usual size medium looked too big so downsized to a small which fits much better. I love the Elle cardigans, and have several in my autumn colours. I think it’s a young attractive style. This praline is a lovely warm colour. This is my favourite Kettlewell product. I now have 5 Elle cardigans (long sleeve): Peony; French Vanilla, Jelly Bean, Bright Navy & Cobalt. The style is perfect and flattering. I use them year-round: layering in winter; lightweight warmth in summer. I have two others in a similar style, but with 3/4 sleeves and seldom reach for those. It is lovely to have this available in a lighter, pretty Spring colour. Please may we have more colours. And maybe a heavier gauge for winter too.- Maria (02/02/2024)

SIZE: X Small COLOUR: French Vanilla
I bought this cardigan in both the Bright Navy and the French Vanilla. The Bright Navy is true to the color you see on the website and very pretty. I bought an XS in both, and its a good size for me (5"3 1/2, 117 lb, petite frame). However, the French Vanilla does not look like the yellow featured on the website. Its dull and has a slight tinge of mustard to it. I was expecting it to look more like a soft pretty yellow. Not so much. I can see how this works for Autumns, but question this working for Springs. I think Springs need a brighter yellow than this. I like the cardigan in general and will try a different color. I'm probably a light summer myself (but have not been analyzed professionally) and usually can pull off lighter yellow colors very well, but this one, not so much.- Susan (23/01/2024)

Disappointed in this item which was in my first order and I've had three months and worn five times just for meetings. It began bobbling immediately. Colour and design great but poor value owing to its deterioration. I have same in red and that is not doing the same thing. Reply from Kettlewell - Thanks for your review and I am sorry to hear this with you Elle cardigan. Pilling normally occurs when an object has rubbed against the fabric, such as a coarse seat, bag strap or seat belt, for example. When a fabric is very soft, like this one, it can be more susceptible to pilling from rubbing and can even vary from colour to colour. We often treat garments with a fabric shaver here in the office with very positive results. Please do return the cardigan and we can take a look for you. Thanks Rebecca

Very happy with the Cobalt blue Elle cardigan I bought. It is stylish, not at all Mumsy, and fits well (I’m a size 10 and bought the small), and although it’s not bulky it’s still warm. It’s pricey but in terms of cost-per-wear it will pay for itself very quickly! I’m planning to replace some other cardigans with these over time.- Sue (19/01/2024)

I’d seen this on several people in the CC…but was unsure because I have a 40 G bust… well.. I took the plunge and although it’s a tad more snug than I would have likes I’m happy wearing it over a contrasting/ toning Tee shirt. I love this cardigan. I have two now, one in peony and one in cobalt. I wasn’t sure I would like the Peony when I ordered it so ordered the cobalt at the same time, just in case. However the colour is gorgeous and I tend to wear it more than the blue which is a surprise for a Clear Spring, however it goes so well with the Aqua belt it’s become my favourite outfit. The styling is beautiful and the quality is great. Yes, they’re not cheap but you get what you pay for. Definitely recommend.- Fiona (03/01/2024)

It’s all right. I waited ages for colour & size to come back in to stock & at the price I would have liked it to be a bit more substantial. I like the v neck & fitted shape but it feels a bit thin & floppy. These cardis are obviously popular so others may not agree!- Helen (08/12/2023)

I just love the Elle cardigan. I bought 3 last year and felt I could not justify buying any more this year - but now I have 6! Merino wool is just right for me. The v shape is great over my large bust and can be worn open or buttoned. Length perfect to be worn under a jacket if you want. Goes without saying that the colours are fabulous and match so well with other items. 11/10 from me. Worth the money.- Anne (08/11/2023)

I love the Ellie cardigan and have several now. I buy the large for slightly relaxed fit as although I have narrow shoulders I am quite busty 32G. So easy to slip in a couple of small silicone shoulder pads to balance the bust and pear-shaped hips. I like the Pearl buttons as I think it helps give a slimming vertical line but I know some people would prefer same coloured ones as the cardigan. I hand wash them in cool water and they wash well. I love Kettlewell. The Elle cardigan fits wonderfully, is very flattering and soft. I also ordered it in bright blue because I liked it so much. Kettlewell is spendy, but I think worth it. This is a very lightweight wool cardigan - excellent quality as always. I think of it as a three-season cardigan - this isn't something I would wear as my only wool layer in winter, although admittedly I feel the cold. It will be brilliant in the UK Spring/Summer/Autumn to put on on cooler days (or even wear alone over a camisole as styled, as wool is very breathable), and in winter I anticipate wearing it over a merino crossover or under a Rachel jacket. Praline is a lovely deep colour and a brilliant Spring neutral. I am 5'1, standard size 10 and wear my normal size of a small. Definitely not itchy - incredibly smooth and fine wool. The V feels fairly deep on me - not in terms of modesty but if you have a scoop neck top it does not protect that area.- Claire (23/10/2023)

i really like the elle cardigan in light merino wool. its a perfect wrap for summer over a dress or in cooler weather over a hetta and trousers. the dark kingfisher is a nice deep colour. one minor niggle was that a button broke the second time i put it on. luckily, a spare was on the label and i was able to fix it.- laura (03/10/2023)

If you can wear wool then this cardi is lovely, the deep rib gives a flattering fitted shape and berry marl is a great colour, however it is for me very itchy, so not versatile enough addition to wardrobe if it has to be layered over long sleeved high necked tops all the time.- Dawn (01/10/2023)

Berry marl is an unusual colour, a soft reddish berry. I like it better than my deep berry Hetta as it blends in better with my other clothes. I wear the Elle cardigan as a light top layer and think it looks good over my basic tees. The wide rib waistband gives some waist definition, which makes it feel smart to wear.- Helen (28/09/2023)

Having bought the charcoal and loved it, I have now bought the cardigan in deep kingfisher and in blackcurrant, The Kingfisher didn't show up when I selected for my summer colours, but came up as suitable for summers when I looked at all the colours. The kingfisher is on the edge of too strong but not over and looks fabulous with navy, dark green, grey and black. It is also great with dark jeans. The blackcurrant is gorgeous with dark purple, grey and black. The style is wonderful worn as a top with trousers or a skirt. The v is just right, it shapes to curves without looking tight and it is a perfect weight. I like the length as it makes the cardigan look "city" rather than "hanging out at home". (although it would work for that too) The length also makes it look much less "little old lady in a cardigan". As an actual old lady, that matters to me. What you can wear ironically at 20 loses the irony in your 70s. It also makes my legs look longer, which is helpful.. I am taking the charcoal and the black current both on holiday to Northern Italy next month. Travelling in Italy always makes me want to look particularly pulled together. They will be perfect. The only reason the kingfisher isn't coming is that I travel only with a carry-on size roller bag and so need to restrict the colours so everything works with everything but it will get much use when I return home. A nice non-itchy cardi I've worn lots in Citronella, a colour that comes up beautifully in merino. I'd really like a similar style, same gauge, with slightly higher V, contoured through body, with the hem ribbing of the same type though only 1.5 - 2" high. Wanted Moss (also stunning in the merino) too but those came up much shorter, and the merino felt thinner and was itchy. Hoping to purchase a second Elle this season.- Lisa (19/09/2023)

Great quality, substantial weight. Perfect for the English summer outdoors or for wearing indoors when the weather is cooler. If Kettlewell had a shorter version, I would buy all the colours. Just arrived, I ordered the S and XS just in case, the small is perfect, I am just 5ft and 8/10 I was looking for something to go over a red winter dress I have and this should look lovely but it will work over T's in the winter I hope too. I hate being cold but I also hate having heavy layers on. With a geranium red infinity scarf from last winter this, I hope, will give my spring colouring the zing it needs as I have found light colours in the winter are drab as I have got older. The length of sleeves and garment length are perfect for this petite lady and I have short arms so well done Kettlewell! £95 seems a lot, and it is, but it is in line with shop prices and Kettlewell items usually last really well, I have found a cold wool wash in the machine is fine with no shrinkage for other Kettlewell merino items I have (Vicky sweater and a sweater from the first Kettlewell season many moons ago)- Susan (07/09/2023)

Just arrived, I tried it on and it is fabulous! I am newly a 10/12 and bought a medium in charcoal. It is fitted and shows off my newly slim curves .without looking tight. On its own the v is sexy without being tarty (Nice for a dinner out) but for everyday I may wear a camisole under it. The neatness of the fit and the length to the top of the hip makes it look smart and much less "little old lady" than a cardigan can be. I am 5'6" with shortish arms and the length of the arms is, unusually, perfect. As a summer with salt and pepper hair, the charcoal colour is perfect. This is a beautiful light blue. The marl weave is subtle and soft. It's a beautiful shade for Soft Summers! As in all Kettlewell, I chose the Medium and it's perfect. I purchased this cardigan in the red to go with the red vest top. However, I was not aware of the tiny fiddly elastics that make the closure for the equally tiny buttons. Being arthritic I had no option but to take off all buttons and elastic loops and wear as an edge to edge cardigan. Won’t make this mistake again!- Janet (29/05/2023)

I was on the point of keeping this cardi as it was what I've been searching for for ages ie a simple, navy v neck merino cardi. However, I finally concluded that it was just that little bit short for me in both body and arms. I don't have trouble with other Kettlewell garments so it must just be this style. I love these cardigans. These are a beautiful, flattering style with the wide ribbing at the waist. It is difficult finding v-neck, long-sleeve cardigans, especially with good shaping. Kettlewell Marino is so very good, I love the style of these; I normally wear them with the top two buttons done up only.. The wide rib at the waist, gives the impression of cinching in your waist. The Elle cardigan is as close to my dream cardigan as you can get, the v-neck, the deep rib at the waist, the perfect length, light but warm and a great choice of colours My first Elle was in Citronella and I wore it so much I then bought the Moss, which got even more wear and I was going to stop there, but the gold in my size was low in stock. So all good intentions went out of the window and into my basket it went. I'm so glad I did as it then went out of stock in my size. The gold is a gorgeous soft colour which suits my warm, light, soft colouring so well. Have ended up buying 5 of these!! Colours fabulously rich. Proving tremendously versatile as an extra over-layer in cold weather, and as just the one extra layer over warmer weather tops on chillier mornings. This Merino wool is both fine & light enough not to be too bulky under jackets & coats, yet warm enough to keep me comfortable when and as required. Bought two sizes up from my normal size so the bottom ribbing wouldn’t stretch tight over my stomach, and also to accommodate as many layers as needed underneath. This is my dream cardigan! It has slipped into my wardrobe and it's like it has always been there, which is the mark of a Good Buy, I reckon! I've worn it lots already - over a dress, with a shirt and jeans, over a breton, over a SRN. I have waited for ages to find a cardi like this (can't bear a round neck cardigan!) so I now have it in three colours! Please keep this as a KW Classic! Love the quality, style, colour and fit of this cardigan. I'm a blue spring and the cobalt blue is a great colour for me. It fits really well and looks great with all my midi and maxi skirts and with trousers. I'm 5' 5" with a small frame and it's nice to find a neat fitting that's not too short. I’m petite at 4’11” and wear size XS in the Elle cardigan. The fine merino knit, deep fitted waistband and V neck ticks all the style boxes for this petite ingenue. It has a lightweight, neat feel to it and is perfect for wearing with dressier outfits. Kettlewell fine merino knits are the softest I’ve ever worn and never feel itchy when next to my skin, unlike other fine merino knits I’ve worn in the past. The light blue marl colour fits perfectly into my SweetPea Summer palette and I see it as an ‘all seasons’ item, as summer nights can be quite chilly here in County Durham.- Sheila (16/02/2023)

This is my second Elle cardigan. I have worn the citronella one so much, I decided to buy the moss as well and I am so glad I did. The moss Elle is now a cornerstone of my wardrobe, I have worn it even more than the citronella one and that is saying something! I love everything about this cardigan, the light but warm merino wool, the v-neck, the length of the sleeves, the wide waistband, the length, which is perfect on me and it goes with SO much in my wardrobe. Really can not praise this cardigan enough. As a petite 5’ it sits perfectly just below the waist, and The colour Oatmeal fits in perfectly with all my Kettlewell coloured tops. Lovely cardigan. It's a refined, lady-like garment - thin and finely knit. I sent it back though because I had wanted to wear it as a top on its own, as shown on the models but, on me, the V neck was so deep it went right down into my cleavage. This might be more to do with my shape than the jumper itself - I am 5 foot 3; maybe on a taller person the neckline won't go so low.- Ingrid (05/01/2023)

This is my second Elle cardigan, the first one I bought was in Citronella. I love, love, love this cardigan. I'd requested a winter version of the Verona cardigan in the Colour Club and Kettlewell Colours has come up trumps. At 5'2", for me it is the perfect length, the cuffs can be turned back to suit, it's brilliant for my hourglass figure and it has a v neck, just perfect. These cardigans are lovely. I like to wear them on their own and the design is perfect for doing this. A size 10, I ordered the small size and it fits perfectly, not too baggy as I prefer it to be fitted. It sits on my waist and is ideal for the flared skirts and dresses which I like to wear. I have it in charcoal and oatmeal, with carmine red on order. It is expensive but the quality of the wool is excellent and it is beautifully made and finished. It will last for years. I almost didn’t buy this cardigan because of the price, but I’m so glad I did! It is my favourite colour and the perfect shape and style for my petite height and hourglass/pear shaped body. It is comfortable yet smart, and light yet warm all at the same time. I love it so much that I also bought it in fuchsia, and I am certain that on a cost per wear basis they will both prove to be bargains before long. I love the figure flattering shape of this cardigan and that the arms are shorter as I'm petite. A perfect fit. As others have said though, the cardigans would look better with same colour buttons. I changed the white plasticky looking ones to matching navy ones and which looked classier and more expensive. Love the sweater! Mostly because of the style which is a favorite of mine. I also love the material - so smooth and light! I'm a cool summer (close to winter) and so chose fuchsia because there are so few summer choices here. It's either a light colour or a dark colour, no colourful mediums. Fuchsia actually works in this material because the fabric doesn't reflect light so the colour appears a little softer. Could you please add more colours to this delightful sweater? I managed to get the last small in cobalt blue in this. I have sized down as I prefer fitted cardigans to be really fitted. It's a gorgeous colour - my only quibble like a previous reviewer, is that it would be nice to have the buttons matching the colour of the cardi. I wore this cardigan for the first time yesterday, it’s warm and comfortable, just long enough for me - I’m tall at over 5’8 - but most of all it made me happy! The Geranium red is a gorgeous colour. I loved the style of this fitted cardigan but unfortunately the geranium red was too dark for me - if only it had been poppy or red coral. I also needed to size down in this. I have just looked at the cobalt blue but sadly it is sold out in small. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this cardigan if it appeared in flamingo pink, apple, aquarius, spring yellow.- Louise (30/10/2022)

Snug for this Michelin woman but an extremely useful, neat cardie of clearly good quality. Worn with trousers so far but expect it to do well with skitrts too. I gave away my Verona partlybecause of the width of the welt at bottom; Elle's is much narrower so much more acceptable. Elle...What a perfect cardigan! Fuchsia is a beautiful, rich colour, in sheeny merino wool, and the fit is just right: neither too tight nor too loose. It’s not at all itchy as wool can often be. Style-wise, somehow Kettlewell have managed to make it classic yet modern at the same time. I’m sure I’ll be wearing this cardigan a lot over the next few months. The colour Sapphire in this Elle cardigan is a jewel , a gem indeed! Fabulous colour , I adore it. The cardigan is a beautiful quality and fit, very neat and tidy and classic . As I am a dramatic natural with a need for quirky madness and texture it had to go back but only because of style. The quality, fine wool, softness and finish are truly beautiful. As a Minimalist/Adenturer SP I've been looking for a simple fitted V-neck cardigan in an interesting colour for eons! I'm usually a S but took my cue from the website info and ordered the Elle in S and XS to try them out. Interestingly the S actually gaped a bit at the buttons (which are very pretty BTW) while being slightly too big on the shoulders, yet the XS doesn't gape and works perfectly over a SRN. As a curvy petite I tend to go for toning combinations top and bottom and the marine navy Elle works really well with my 2021 marine navy/laguna leopard skirt and as a casual with jeans. The V is quite low on me so wouldn't wear it on its own but it's perfect with silkies underneath. Anticipate a lot of use this winter.- Mandy (10/10/2022)

I purchased the Elle Cardigan, because I loved the Verona from a previous season. I am happy with the long sleeves and the beautiful colors in the merino wool, but the fit is a bit looser on me and since I wore a size XS in the Verona, there was not a way to size down. I'm such a happy bunny. I have two Veronas that I wear in summer, but the Elle is going to be even more useful. The merino has a sleek sheen, and takes bold colours beautifully, and the long sleeves are practical for winter. The blackcurrant is such a scrumptious colour for a sultry/burnished winter. I sized down for a really fitted look, as I'll mostly wear it done up. The V neck is exactly the right depth for wearing either alone or with a cami underneath. I have the Verona in Chinese Blue for summer and find it useful, but the merino Elle is a bit too Princess for me, possibly because I sized down. However, Blackcurrant is a gorgeous shade - exactly like rich fruit - so I shall be exchanging it for a Vickie asap! The style is very pretty, but sadly not everyone suits everything in Kettlewell - why would they?
