Lovely colours in this skirt so it goes with lots in my summer wardrobe. I was disappointed with the weight of the fabric, far too thin to wear in winter and not lined either. I kept it as I have the matching top and it works well as a dress.- Lynne (30/04/2024)

I was very pleased with my Athena skirt. I already have two and since the style suits me so well,I decided to try the Blueberry Crush even although I am a Winter. I am wearing it with a Winter blue semi scoop top (can’t remember it’s name!) and it works well.- May (12/03/2024)

I like my Black Forest Athena so much that I've added another skirt in the Summer colourway. I don't usually venture outside my Winter palette, but It has several crossover colours that I can emphasise to bring it inside. It works particularly well with Ice Lavender and Navy. Recently wore my new Athena skirt with my Roxy alpine green jacket and fushia t shirt to a special family meal. My daughter and daughter in law remarked that I looked ‘really put together’. I was thrilled as I always struggle to achieve this look. It’s all down to kettlewell and it’s really helpful colour combination inspirations and buying a whole outfit rather than just one item and then struggling with what to put it with.- Ann (02/02/2024)

Love the Athena skirt, my first one. Hesitated at first as thought might be too dark for me in the winter Black Forest colour but I loved it so much I ordered the Phoebe matching top and love that I can get the dress look or as separates. I really like the pattern and weight of this skirt but wish that the skirts weren’t so long. There are many of us who are between 5’1” and 5’4” who want to be fashionable but are swamped by the long skirts - midi is fine but a choice of lengths would be a great selling point!- Deanne (14/12/2023)

I bought this skirt in the black forest colour. It's really pretty and looks great on, so I kept it. However I would say that £69 for an unlined jersey skirt is ridiculously expensive - half that would have been about right. But I guess no-one forced me to buy it!- Jane (23/11/2023)

I bought the skirt to wear with the top I already had, VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE LENGTH. I assumed it would be the same length as the other Athena blackberry crush skirt I bought. IT WASN’’T, IT WAS AT LEAST AN INCH SHORTER. Therefore I probably won’t wear it as much as the other skirt and top .- Barbara (16/11/2023)

I bought the Athena skirt in Papaya plus matching top in the Kettlewell Colour Studio in September but then it got very hot and I didn’t get around to wearing it. Thinking it would be too ‘summery’ for October Input it at the back of my wardrobe for next year. However, I saw a photo of Melissa wearing it last week and decided to try it with a jumper and thick tights. It is fabulous, swings as you walk, even thick enough for November. I’m a 14 and bought a L - it’s elasticsted so perhaps I could have sized down but it’s fine. More please Kettlewell in plain colours!- Viv (13/11/2023)

Initially I discounted this skirt as too “summery” in weight. However, I bought the Phoebe blouse in the same print and I got so many compliments that I bought this skirt too,. It goes with many of my knits and tops as well. Should be versatile. Hope to get lots of use. but I have deducted a mark because, for a winter skirt, I do think it should be lined or thicker fabric..- Anne (08/11/2023)

Very difficult to review! Firstly - I love, love, love the print! The colours are fantastic for this sweet pea summer - the basis of my capsule wardrobe for a trip to Vienna this week! So versatile. Secondly, it feels so comfortable to wear I know I will reach for it regularly - l adore prints! Especially for travelling which I go a lot. The downside - it is very very thin fabric - I nearly returned as quality not as good as previous prints - I’m not sure how well it will wash and wear for amount of use I could give it. I’ve lined it to give more substance - like Alice skirts - and wear slip also The style is a little frumpy too. Size wise I’m between L snd LL and went for LL- Jan (20/10/2023)

Gorgeous print for the Summer palette. Love the material of the Athena print, drapes beautifully and washes well. I also have the matching top to make a dress. The Blueberry Crush print is so versatile and pairs with most Summer colours so both skirt and top will get lots of wear as separates too. The Athena skirt is the perfect length for me at 4’11”. I also have last seasons Athena skirt in both Summer colourways and I do hope KW continue with this style and fabric for seasons to come.- Sheila (20/10/2023)

The style and fit of the skirt is perfect for me. The length means it’s great with all types of shoes and boots. Given it’s for autumn/winter very very disappointing that it is not lined. Two summer skirts purchased in previous seasons are both lined so cannot quite understand why an autumn/winter one isn’t. But otherwise love skirt, and have matching Phoebe top also. I really love the Athena skirt. I noticed that some people find that the material is a bit thin, but for me the fabric is ideal and works well in warmer weather, but also in the colder months with a slip. As for weight , I find that it hangs very well on me and I like both the scale of the print and the colours.. I buy mainly from the winter palette, but also love and have some of the summer colours and so there are lots of variations to go with this skirt . I like the SCW with a sleeveless KW top under it or any of my short sleeved summer tops .I am a 14/ 16 depending on my weight, and I opted for the L to be less bumpy over the tum ! Length-wise, it’s maxi with shoes showing and so is better for me at 5 ft 1 in than the longer skirts. I have the winter colour way too !- Angela (20/10/2023)

I agree that the fabric is lighter weight and the skirt rather short for me (I'm just over 5f 9 with a 34.5 inch inside leg) compared with previous years' patterned skirts, but I have got round both issues by layering this over a maxi skirt rather in the manner of Victorian skirts with full aprons over them. The colours in the blueberry crush work really well with my navy maxi, my deep amethyst maxi, and the old bluebell maxi (the current bluebell maxi is much more lilac), and with a roll neck, the matching print top and a tie wrap cardigan I am snug. Plenty of mix and match versatility with other tops too rg purple magic and Breton blue :-) I may well get the pine/damson/black pattern as well, as I already have the necessary matching maxis and tops...- Penny (17/10/2023)

I love this skirt! I was a little uncertain before I ordered it but the material was love at first sight and the fit is perfect for me. Other reviewers have said the material is on the thin side but this gives it a lovely flow and if necessary I will put a half slip under it. I wore it for the first time recently and received a compliment from the critic indoors! To add to the icing on the cake the colours in the skirt match many existing items.- Valerie (16/10/2023)

I was disappointed with this skirt it didn't have the quality or style of the Alice skirts which were my favourite ever. The length wasn't flattering on me and as others have said the fabric is quite thin and needs an underskirt, It was mid calf on me ( I'm five feet five tall) and I felt quite frumpy in it. I'm sorry Kettlewell. I love your clothes and this is the first negative review I've written.- Pat (03/10/2023)

I agree with Victoria in the earlier review. This skirt is a lovely print & the colours are great but it’s very thin, especially as it’s part of the autumn collection. I will definitely be going in search of a slip to attach to the waistband. The Alice skirts hang much better due to the weight of the fabric and the lining which allows them to be smooth over underwear, lumps & bumps.- Kaye (30/09/2023)

I ordered this along with the matching long-sleeve top. Although it is a nice skirt, I was underwhelmed with the weight. The fabric is very thin and lightweight and I will have to wear a slip underneath. Because the fabric is thin it doesn’t hang as nicely (concealing any jiggly bits) as it should. Put together with the top and a belt, it looks nice but not necessarily slimming - so - I put the short-tie wrap in Ganzi Purple over the top. This greatly improved the whole outfit. I considered returning bc of the issues but the Blueberry print is so stunning for my Summer complexion. Of course, the color is the best part.- Victoria (23/09/2023)
