Green for Autumns

Ah, Autumns. Green was made for you. Whether you fall at the vibrant end of the palette and adore grass and lime, at the deeper end with dark olive and forest, or at the soft end and prefer delicate apple jade and light olive, your palette has a whole host of greens to play with.

All of your greens have a definitive yellow tone, and range from really-quite-bright all the way through to the softest tones.

Your greens fall broadly into three categories. Vibrant (grass, leaf), deep (dark olive, forest) and light (olive grove, new lime - remember that your 'light' colours still have depth and warmth to them). Let's take a look at how to identify each one, and put it together in an outfit.

Going bright can feel scary to autumns, but these bold greens can pair incredibly well with a neutral outfit to give that little vibrant lift that it's easy to miss out as an Autumn. Choose a green with a very definite yellow undertone, but to ensure it isn't too Spring-like, aim for one with a golden rather than a canary yellow feel to its undertone - ever so slightly deeper and richer.

Some Autumns worry about going too dark with their outfits, but as long as you stick within your palette, there's no reason to fear the dark side. Keep your outfit tonal for minimum panic. Forest green can be a tricky one to be certain on, but just ensure it looks at home with your Autumn teals and yellows, whereas dark olive is easy to identify and belongs only to your season.

I often hear from Autumn clients that summer dressing is tricky, but with a few of the palette's lighter colours in your wardrobe, summer dressing is a breeze. As with dark olive, light olive greens belong solely to you, from the silvery pale sage greens through to army fatigue shades. Pair soft olive with deep cream and cashew for a timelessly elegant look.
