This is a lovely dress with pretty details on sleeves and back ruching - and added bonus of pockets! - but it was absolutely huge on me, so much so that I know the XS would also be too big. I'm usually S or XS in Kettlewell clothes (UK 8 and 5'2") and I bought a size Small. The V was far too deep and wide and there was too much fabric in the skirt. Also, I wasn't too keen on the autumn colourway for a summer dress. Much prefer the spring version, but know it would be too bright for me. I bought this mainly for travel in warm/hot weather so was drawn to its short sleeves (more sun coverage than sleeveless), shorter length and overall breeziness. The Small not only fit me (UK size 10-12, 32E bust) but was even a bit loose. Amazing front view--ideal for hourglass figures. Side view proved a bit loose--not terribly so but could be more flattering if more fitted. Debated whether to try XS, but decided the option of belting it or leaving it loose in hot weather would better suit my purposes. Large-enough pockets to fit my phone and its case--not that I'd carry my phone that way as it would be heavy but there's the scale. Despite Nightshade and Hyacinth in the colourway, Hyacinth Vine doesn't read purple to me (perhaps a few purply buds), rather a range of useful blues over the lovely light teal. Length on me (around 5'4" or 163 cm) is a flattering mid-knee. The charming sleeve ties remind me of dressmaking details from the 1990's. Overall quite pleased with this purchase. read more »

A beautiful dress everything is perfect for me, the length, details on the sleeve, the ruching on the back which means the front fits well, V shape not too deep and pockets. I bought two spring dresses but decided to keep both, my only criticism is Kettlewell is not good for my bank balance. read more »

A lovely dress—and perfect for us petites! I’m 5’2” and it hit just at my knee, a perfect flattering length. The smocking makes for a tidy but not tight fit, and the neckline is deep but not overly revealing. The Hyacinth Vine color is so pretty!! I bought it on a whim and I’m so glad I did. read more »
