Your magic colour - Springs

When I started to consider these Magic Colours, Spring was the one which came to mind instantly. Well, almost. I initially thought of Coral, but I have seen the odd Blue Spring on whom it feels a fraction too warm, whereas Pink Geranium manages to sit on that 'warm but not too golden, bright but not too overwhelming' line more neatly.

The great thing about Pink Geranium is its versatility. It becomes brighter and more confident when paired in contrast with Bright Navy or True Blue, yet feels delicate and pretty when teamed with Dove Grey or Soft White. And it takes on an almost Autumnal feel when paired with Gingernut and Gold.

Side note: I know that there will be Springs among you who are averse to pink - I've met a few of you in my time! I would love for you to give Pink Geranium a try next time you're placing an order - the warmth and perfect Springiness of this colour makes it work so well with every colour in your palette.

style notes

Pink Geranium feels almost autumnal when paired with Spring's richest browns and gold accents.

Soften Pink Geranium even more by pairing it with softer shades like Light Grey. Hawaii adds colour contrast while keeping the overall look light and soft.

Pink Geranium takes on a bolder, high contrast feel when paired with the brightest colours of the Spring palette

Pairing Pink Geranium with the bold and bright shades that work so well for your Paintbox palette gives your strong shades a pretty touch.

A final word on magic colours

You can see from the images above how much the one magic colour I've chosen works with any of the seasonal sub-types when it's paired with the right colours. The truth is that almost any colour from your palette can be made to work for you when it's styled in the right way, and I'd love for you to experiment with a colour from your palette that you don't normally wear - maybe it will prove to be your own magic colour! Come over to the Kettlewell Colour Club and share your experiments - there's a whole group of us waiting to explore and celebrate colour along with you.
