Your magic colour - Autumns

When I analyse clients, we finish the process by looking through each of the 36 drapes for their season and considering how good each of those colours looks on them. And I always love the order of my drapes when I'm doing this for an Autumn, because the last few drapes are the teal shades, and I know that every single Autumn is going to (a) look amazing in them, and (b) love them. Sure, we might consider Autumn to be Rust and Mustard and Chocolate, but those are really best on the True/Leaf Autumns. It's in the variations on the theme of teal that the magic colours live. For me, the most versatile and magical of Kettlewell's (many, many) teal shades is Laguna, with its depth and extra splash of green compared to some of the more blueish teals.

And the great thing about Laguna is that it works with both those really traditional leafy Autumn shades, as well as both the softest and the deepest colours within the Autumn palette, which means it really is a colour for every single Autumn!

style notes

Laguna might not feel like an obvious bedfellow with the True Autumn shades, but I hope this outfit shows how well it pairs with these leafy shades.

style notes

Vibrant Autumns do contrast well, and the Laguna makes the Acid Lime and Soft White pop, without sacrificing Autumn's depth and warmth.

style notes

Deep Autumn is the obvious friend of Laguna, pairing gorgeously with Poppy and a splash of boldness in the earrings.

style notes

Soften Laguna right down with tonal Seagrass and softest Latte for a more delicate take on teal.

A final word on magic colours

You can see from the images above how much the one magic colour I've chosen works with any of the seasonal sub-types when it's paired with the right colours. The truth is that almost any colour from your palette can be made to work for you when it's styled in the right way, and I'd love for you to experiment with a colour from your palette that you don't normally wear - maybe it will prove to be your own magic colour! Come over to the Kettlewell Colour Club and share your experiments - there's a whole group of us waiting to explore and celebrate colour along with you.
