When colours clash with style for Summers

For Summers, romantic and natural looks come easily. With its soft, romantic shades, tonal layering, delicately pretty and feminine glamour are all effortless with the Summer palette. Slightly trickier though, can be something a little more minimalist and sleek, or a more fun, preppy look.

Trickier, but far from impossible. With a little thought, it's perfectly possible to make the Summer palette work with any personal style. Playing with the way you put colours together, or the actual colours you choose (the more typical Sweetpea Summer colours are much softer and sweeter than the deeper or more neutral shades within the palette) can totally change the way your outfit looks without needing to move out of the palette entirely.

Opt for less obvious Summer shades, like Merlot and Mushroom, and pair with a bold Raspberry pop for a look that hints at rock chick without abandoning your soft, cool palette.

The trick to bringing out the Summer palette's fun side is to pair brighter shades like Periwinkle and Hawaii with a strong neutral. The contrast makes all the shades feel bolder, without needing to drift into either Spring or Winter palettes.
