So many things to like about this vest. I have just one suggestion. Please make this with a lower collar design. I've never been a fan of standup collars because I don't like the way they feel on the neck. Typically this would be a deal breaker, but there are so many things to like I think I'll keep it. The popular puffer vests look ridiculous on me, so it's nice to find this. It has a nice streamlind look with a sturdy zipper. The fabric is soft and comfortable with a nice weight. Versatile piece. I'm 115 pounds and I got the medium. The medium fits nicely but loosely. I believe a small would also fit. I could go either way. Next time I might try a small. It fits just as stated in the video. *Thank you for making this with a silver zipper. So many winter items are made with a gold zipper and for me it ruins the look.- Theresa (19/03/2024)

Unfortunately I was disappointed with this gilet - a rare thing with Kettlewell clothes. The colour is wonderful and the quality is fine BUT the fabric was too stiff and it felt awkward around the neck. I didn't return it but probably should have because it's hardly been worn.- Lesley (10/02/2024)

I have three of these wonderful, cozy vests and I love them all. A perfect warm layer and a fun pop of color to brighten a chilly day. Lovely gilets - bought two in the sale! Both excellent for a spring (coral & gold the other one). The stand up neckline looks good with a scarfe underneath, which is just as well as I think it could be a bit annoying without. An absolutely beautiful colour which perfectly suits me as a soft autumn. Looks great with soft white. Fits true to size and wonderful for extra warmth. Not keen on the neckline as a bit high for me. I love the Gilets for a bit of extra warmth and layering in the cooler months. I am wearing my dark navy one right now, over a contrasting SRN, as I write this. The silver zipper adds a bit of lightness and sparkle that looks so nice. I can even wear mine under my winter coat for extra warmth or wear it over a workout jacket too. I am really hoping that they will be back in the future in more colors, as I would definitely buy more. I am between an XS and Small and wear an XS in this style.- KH (06/01/2024)

I bought a coral one second hand as a bit of a punt (having never had a gilet before - no sleeves - how does that work?) and loved it (surprise - it adds warmth without sleeve bulk under coats - who knew?) so decided to try some other colours - sand and bluejay. It's just to the bottom of my waist/top of hips (I'm 5'11) but this provides some shape to a garment that doesn't really have any. I sized down from L to M (I am a UK 14). The sand was another surprise - such a gorgeous, useful colour for this paintbox who wears a lot of brown in winter. Although I wow in all aquas the bluebird colour just wasn't right so went back. Having not had my style done and feeling lost with my look I've started trying new things with some great results. Kettlewells return policy let's me do that - thank you.- Christina (02/11/2023)

The colour of this is of course great and it’s useful. However there are some downsides: the shoulders are strange they seem very square and they stand up off my body rather than lying flat; The fleecy lining sheds a lot; The material is rather stiff so there is a bit of zipped up hair hostess’s kind of vibe to the design rather than a comfy relaxed feel. In summary if I had bought it at the full price I would definitely have sent it back - at the sale price I’ll keep it - but I would not particularly recommend it.- Sarah (23/09/2023)

I have never had a gilet before so I’m still monitoring its practicality and usefulness for me. The colour is perfect, My only issue is the neck area comes up too high under my chin, which is uncomfortable. I'm very pleased with the Penny Fleece Gilet - I chose the Marine Navy and also the Coral in the recent sales and am so pleased. The Marine Navy is such a useful colour working with most of my autumn wardrobe. I'm a small 10/12 and chose size M. The fit is good - fabric is sturdy and expensive looking - I like the stand up collar and I like the fact it is loose enough to wear a thicker jumper underneath when zipped up. Perfect! Oh how I love the Penny Fleece Gilet - I now have three! Incredibly warm for colder weather, but also perfect on warmer but windy days. The Orchid colour is particularly lovely as a summery gilet. The fleecy inside is cosy, but the smooth outer layer gives it such a smart look. This is my second Penny gilet, I also have it Monaco Blue. So warm and cosy for wearing indoors during the cooler months and perfect for morning dog walks during the warmer months when it can feel chilly first thing. I got this one in the sale so very happy with my purchase. My only criticism would be the shaping (lack of) at the back, it’s a boxy fit and I would prefer it to follow the contours of the body. Love the Penny Fleece Gilet I had held off purchasing, not certain if it was a style for my romantic/boho style. It works so well over my maxi skirts, dresses and other outfits. I was able to purchase during the sale and so happy that I took the leap. It will be appreciated during the autumn and winter months when a little extra warmth is needed. I already own, and regularly wear, one of these in Marine Navy (I am a very Cool Summer but find this colour works well for me .... And it works nicely with stronger pinks and lavenders). I have been intending to purchase at least one more so took advantage of the sale to purchase the Orchid. OMGoodness ..... What a superb shade! In real life, it is a beautiful pink/purple which really brings colour to a Cool face. It looks sensational with all the Lavender and Lavender Blue this season. I am seriously considering the full Fleece in the same colour ..... And I am not normally a Fleece wearer! I am a busty size 6/8 and at 5' tall this covers the lower part of my back. So looking forward to the new season ..... I have a French tailor who was an Atelier in Paris who always comments on the excellent finishing/fabric of the KW ready wear .... I deliberated ordered the larger size as I am between sizes, I went for the small, maybe I should have tried the XS, I returned this as I felt it was far too big, and even the XS might be not right. I am curvy and I think this was too straight for me, which is odd as I have a padded gilet that suits me as being straight. Such a shame, I genuinely find it difficult to get the right size being more a petite lady. Perfect for layering up, I am a size 10/12 and ordered medium as will wear mainly over fleece and sweatshirts. Marine Navy is a lovely colour and the gold zip elevates this from your average gilet. I’m a summer palette girl, a mix of styles but predominantly natural/classic/gamine & I love a scarf! I love my Erin in Monaco blue & thought a gilet in in the same fabric would be a ‘really useful’ addition to my wardrobe. I ordered the plum purple as it’s a coloured I like the look of, & as an afterthought, added the Monaco blue to my basket as well. Unexpectedly I didn’t like the look or “feel” of the plum purple on me, but loved the Monaco blue! It’s a great weight, a sturdy ‘jacket’ fabric, with useful pockets. My usual size small is a perfect neat fit. There’s enough room for a Connie jumper or similar underneath which makes it perfect for layering in the winter & also as an easy extra layer in the warmer months, when I wear a lot of blue! This Monaco Blue Penny gilet is my third one, after Plum Purple and Lobelia. I was hoping a blue one would be available, so jumped on this. I find them warm and cosy, and fit me neatly over the silky crews and Hetta tops. I’m a size 14 and buy Medium in KW. I’ve not washed them as yet. I’ve worn the blue with my Blue Paisley Alice skirt. The Penny Fleece Gilet is a staple in my wardrobe. I have them in two sizes. The smaller size is when I want a neat fitted look, worn zipped up with skirts and dress pants. The larger size I wear in a more casual way and usually unzipped over thicker layers. What I love about the Gilet is the exposed zipper which provides a flattering vertical element to the style, as well as the fine detail of the circular zipper pull. Purchased both the small and medium to compare. Ended up keeping the small which fits perfectly over the Connie Sweater. 37.5 inches around the fullest part of my bust , so technically in that area the Medium fit better but overall the medium was too big with a 29 inch waist. Unzipping the vest a few inches at the top keeps the vest from pulling across the chest and accentuates my waist so overall a better look for me - This gilet is a straight cut. I love the warmth without the restrictive feeling of a long sleeve jacket when working. Definitely will buy more in the future as it fits with my lifestyle and style. This gilet is just the right size wise really fitted. Previously I ordered a L in another shade and kept it thinking M would be too small. I bought the Lobelia gilet, and the lemon Sara top too because I liked the colour combination. I’ve worn this gilet several times with other tops. The gilets are warm and cosy for chilly Spring days. I do find the collar a little high though when fully zipped if needed. They are a good tidy fit and length. As I’ve said before, I’d like something similar for cool summer days without double lining. I have been thinking of ordering one of these for ages. I already have the Erin jacket in Coral but his gilet is more versatile as I can wear it at home as well as outside if it gets a bit warmer. I have the Plum Purple as my first purchase of this top, and love the fit and warmth. I would like more colours to choose from as a Summer next time. Bright navy, a silver grey maybe. The colour is cheery and puts me in a positive frame of mind when I wear it. I usually purchase a medium but I could have done a small in this gilet. However I am keeping because it will be able to work if I choose to wear it over a heavier sweater. The colour, light sand and gold is very neutral so literally goes with all my autumn colours. I am 5’4” and a size 8/10 so a small for me is roomy enough to have a thick jumper underneath! As soon as I tried it on, I could see it was one of my colours and understood immediately what a difference the right shade can make. Oh my goodness, how I love this gilet! It is warm and snugly, without adding weight and bulk. I usually order size small when the garment is a relaxed or semi fitted fit, and medium for fitted. I really like this Gilet. I feel the cold so sized down to a more fitted XS which keeps me warm but still fits over the Studio Sweatshirt. Colour is fabulous. I am afraid I didn’t get on well with this at all. It’s just not for me. So I’ve sent it back. However I would still say that it is a nice quality item.- Caroline (06/11/2021)

This is a lovely fleece gilet. I am between sizes so I chose a small rather than a medium size. The arm holes were a tad too small to wear over a sweater, so sadly I had to return it. For reference I am UK size 10 -12. Tall with broad shoulders.- Susan (09/10/2021)
SIZE: X Small COLOUR: Light Sand & Gold
I bought a couple of these to try as I couldn't decide on which colour to order (light sand and coral) and although they were both supposedly size XS, the light sand came up a good couple of centimetres wider and generally larger than the coral one - maybe I was just unlucky, but I don't expect such a discrepancy in the sizing. It's a lovely weight fabric and very comfortable, but in the end I returned both as I just didn't love it enough, but I'd say it's worth a try if you're looking for a gilet.- Christine (09/10/2021)

Best quality fleece I've seen. This Gilet is a gorgeous soft fabric that has a nice weight to it and is very warm. It's a nice straight shape that's perfect for my Column body type. I'm petite and the length is perfect. I ordered my usual size to allow for a sweater underneath and it fits perfectly and I can still do it up. The armholes are a perfect size as well. I knew this was going to be a love it or hate it item ... Happy to say, I love it lol. It is a really great weight and feels like it will be very cosy on a cold Winter's day. Two pockets ... My only disappointment is the lack of an interior zipped pocket for card and keys. The back interior fleece is lovely and soft while the exterior fabric is a flat smooth close knit. Armholes are wide enough for a sweater underneath but not so wide that you get chilly from the wind blowing through. On a five foot petite this lies about an inch below my waist - on someone much taller this might be on the short side. I bought a Geri Skirt in the same colour and the whole look with boots is very smart. I am a size 8 and bought in S to ensure I could layer comfortably and there's plenty of room.
