Your wardrobe update heroes - Spring
As a Spring, your key for dressing for autumn/winter is to not sacrifice your gorgeous light, bright Spring palette. Just because everyone around you is shifting into sludge colours doesn't mean you have to. Adding texture, layers and pattern will bring cosiness to your outfit, without losing the high contrast warmth of your best colours.
With that in mind, I've picked the six new season items that are going to lift your look as the temperature drops, and keep working hard for you all autumn/winter long. I've kept a Princess personal style in mind when putting this selection together, but if that isn't you, don't panic - simply read on to find out which subtle shifts you need to make to your new season essentials list to best suit your own personal style.
Your essentials
Silky Roll Neck | Print Arabella Dress | Connie Sweater | Vintage Collar | Darcey V | Rhoda Skirt
Style notes:
That might all feel like a lot of colour, but when you begin to look closely it all pairs together so well - pair the Darcey V with the Rhoda skirt, or layer up the Lemonade Silky Roll Neck with the cosy Connie Sweater or the Arabella Dress when the temperature drops. And the best bit is that these items are a blend of basics (the Roll Neck, Darcey V) to add a fresh splash of colour, and statement pieces (the Vintage Collar and Rhoda Skirt - this skirt, incidentally, will work so well with opaques and ankle boots) which will breath new life into the basics you already have in the wardrobe.
New season picks for an Adventurer
Simply remove one or two of the fussier, prettier elements from my selection and replace them with something a bit more laid back, a bit more you. I would be inclined to opt for the oh-so-cool Lucy Leopard Dress in place of the Print Arabella, and switching the Vintage Collar for a gorgeously soft and cosy Cashmere Gauze Stole.
New season picks for a Minimalist
You might want to go a little more sleek and modern, which the Print Arabella will work so well for, but try switching out the Rhoda skirt for a simpler Lottie Dress or a Check Short Skirt (new colours coming soon!) and the Vintage Collar for a (neatly tied!) Cashmere Gauze Stole.
New season picks for a Pixie
Maxi skirts are rarely your friend, but the new Luxe Leggings are possibly the find of the century for you, so switch them into your selection in place of the Rhoda, and think about adding in our bestselling Mia Long Sweater to wear over the top for a cosy-but-stylish take on the tunic with leggings look. You might also want to switch the Arabella Dress (potentially a little long if you're petite) for a neat Lottie Dress.
New season picks for a Movie Star
You want to remove the boring and amp up the glamour, so try switching the Silky Roll Neck for a sumptuous Long Sleeve Cowl Neck, and the Connie Sweater, which might be a little frumpy on you, for the luxurious warmth of the Merino Crossover.
