OUR FABRICS
CASHMERE
Our cashmere gauze stoles are hand-crafted in a small family-run factory in Nepal using fibre from Himalayan mountain goats, combed out naturally when they moult in warmer weather. Our supplier, Cocowai, works closely with the local community and supports charitable projects. For our cashmerino blend, the cashmere is sourced from Mongolia and blended in Italy.
Caring for your cashmere: hand wash with a pH-neutral wool detergent, rinse thoroughly, then roll in a towel to remove excess water before drying flat. Reshape gently while damp and iron on a cool setting if needed. Avoid regular use of fabric conditioner, as it can encourage pilling. Machine wool cycles may vary, so use with caution.
LAMBSWOOL
Lambswool comes from the first shearing of young sheep at around 7 months old. It is a soft, slightly elastic yarn with a luxurious feel, sourced by Kettlewell from Italy, Australia, New Zealand and South America for its quality.
Caring for your lambswool: hand wash with a pH-neutral wool detergent, rinse well, then roll in a towel to remove water before drying flat. Reshape gently while damp and use a cool iron if needed. Avoid frequent use of fabric conditioner to prevent pilling, and only use machine wool cycles with caution.
SUEDE & LEATHER
Our leather and suede are by-products of the meat industry, sourced from monitored tanneries. Vegetable tanning is used for some colours, while brighter shades require chromium sulfate.
The suede for our Hudson Jacket comes from goats, with the soft underside of the hide buffed to create its velvety finish. Suede is more delicate than full leather and needs careful care. Our bags and belts use cowhide in durable full-grain leather, chosen for its strength and natural texture.
Caring for suede: dry clean only with a leather specialist. Use a suede brush for light marks and protect with a quality suede spray annually to guard against colour transfer and water stains.
Caring for leather: do not wash. Clean bags and belts with natural polish, wax or cream, and buff with a soft cloth.
DENIM
Our denim is mostly cotton, blended with elastomultiester and elastane for strength, stretch and comfort. Coloured denim is garment-dyed to reduce water and dye use, while classic denim shades are created with pre-dyed yarns that are woven, then washed for different tones.
Caring for denim: wash sparingly at low temperatures with a colour-safe detergent, avoid frequent fabric conditioner, and iron on a medium to high heat.
Caring for cotton: wash jersey and knitwear at 30° with a colour-safe detergent, avoid overusing fabric conditioner, and limit tumble drying to prolong the garment’s life and reduce energy use. Iron on a cool setting if needed.
VISCOSE, LYOCELL & MODAL
Viscose, modal and lyocell are cellulose-based fibres made from sustainably managed wood sources. All our yarns come from Austria and use a closed-loop process where chemicals and waste are recycled and treated, reducing environmental impact.
Viscose is made from pine, beech and eucalyptus.
Lyocell is made from eucalyptus, oak and birch, made with a non-toxic solvent.
Modal is made from beech wood, produced similarly to viscose with careful waste management.
These fibres are breathable, absorbent and versatile, behaving more like natural fibres and ranging from silky jerseys to durable twills.
Caring for viscose, modal and lyocell: wash at 30° with a colour-safe detergent, avoid frequent use of fabric conditioner, and limit tumble drying to extend the life of the garment. Iron on a cool setting if needed.
LINEN
Linen has been used in textiles for thousands of years, valued for its strength and coolness in hot weather. Its long fibres make it durable, though less elastic, which is why pure linen creases easily and is often more costly. Our linen is blended with viscose and a touch of elastane to keep its natural qualities while adding comfort and reducing creasing.
Caring for linen: machine wash tees at 30° with a colour-safe detergent, minimise tumble drying, and avoid frequent use of fabric conditioner. Dry clean the Iona blazer for best results. Iron on a cool setting if needed.
MERINO WOOL
Merino wool comes from the Merino sheep, prized for its fine, soft fibres. Originally from Spain, Merino flocks are now found worldwide. Our yarns are sourced from Italy, Australia, New Zealand and South America for their exceptional quality.
Caring for merino: hand wash with a pH-neutral wool detergent, rinse well, roll in a towel to remove excess water, and dry flat. Reshape gently while damp and iron on a cool setting. Avoid regular use of fabric conditioner, and use machine wool cycles with caution.
LENZING™ ECOVERO™ VISCOSE
Some of our viscose styles are made with certified LENZING™ yarns, sourced from FSC® or PEFC verified sustainably managed forests. Ranked among the most sustainable viscose providers globally, LENZING™ ensures traceable fibres with a molecular marker guaranteeing authenticity. For more information, see here.
COTTON
Cotton is a natural fibre taken from the seed fluff of the cotton plant and has been used in textiles for thousands of years. All our cotton is combed before spinning for a smoother yarn, then dyed either in yarn or fabric form depending on the style. Sourced from India and Turkey using both conventional and organic farming, our cotton is used across the range, from pure cotton jerseys and knits to blends with elastane or modal for added stretch and softness.
Caring for cotton: wash at 30° with a colour-safe detergent, limit tumble drying to prolong the fabric’s life, and avoid regular use of fabric conditioner. Pure cotton pieces may stretch with wear but return to shape after washing. Iron on a cool setting if needed.
POLYESTER
Polyester is created from PET, traditionally made using fossil fuels. Increasingly, recycled polyester is used instead, made from waste plastic bottles or clothing - a process that uses less energy and fewer chemicals than producing virgin polyester. While synthetic fibres remain necessary for performance fabrics, our goal is to reduce reliance on virgin polyester.
Our recycled polyester is used in padded outerwear, including fillings, and is fully traceable to post-consumer waste. For styles like the Roxy and Rachel Jackets, we currently use non-recycled polyester chosen for its soft, suede-like feel, though we are working with suppliers on recycled alternatives.
Caring for polyester outerwear: wash at 30° with a colour-safe detergent, avoid tumble drying and fabric conditioner, and do not iron. Polyester needs infrequent washing, helping reduce microfibre release.
