Red for Springs
Springs and Red go together like peaches and cream, I always think. Clear, fresh, upbeat reds make for the brightest and best colour pops in Spring's warm, clear palette. From pinkish Watermelon and Strawberry to brightest Geranium and Poppy, your reds are all bold, confident and engaging.
The key thing to remember, when identifying your best reds, is clarity and lightness. Your reds are sometimes orangey-tomato-hued, and sometimes strawberry-pink in tone, but they are always light, clear and vibrant. Anything which gets too dark and heavy or remotely burgundy-toned will immediately make you feel pale and washed out.
Of course, it's easy to shop for your best reds with Kettlewell; you can either browse all of the Spring colours, or use the website filters to narrow down the items you can view by colour (Red) and seasonal palette (Spring), to show you all the variations on the theme that will work for you.
The other key thing to remember is to wear your reds in contrast. Whether it's a really classic combination like Navy, (Soft) White and Red, or something much more contemporary, don't forget to add the contrast. This can come either in the form of a neutral plus a bright (red), or by mixing lights (Camel, Pale Peach) with red, or even by clashing two or more bright shades together. A tonal look - for example, red with Chocolate and Tan - might feel elegant, but needs to be styled carefully in order not to feel too boring.
Lauren Jersey Trousers | Silky Crew Neck | Long Cascade | Merino Infinity Scarf
Style notes: Your take on classic Red, White and Blue features Bright Navy (so much fresher for you than the darker version) and Soft White. The column of Bright Navy Lauren Trousers and Long Cascade creates a long lean silhouette without sacrificing comfort.
Joanna Dress | Chloe Jacket | Gold Mega Love Necklace | Cashmere Gauze Stole
Style notes: I love combining bright colours for Springs! Strawberry makes a brilliant 'your red' backdrop for the light brights of Lemonade and Blue Jewel.
