When Melissa met the winners

raw-header.jpg

If you’ve seen the new Zine which has been going out with orders recently, you will have spotted four very vibrant ladies from our Facebook Colour Club on the cover – Meryl, Clare, Latha and Marieke, who were the winners of our competition to spend a day at Kettlewell HQ and model our SS22 collection. Already fantastically well-informed about our brand (like many of our Colour Club members they seem to know us better than we know ourselves!), they were still excited to find out more, from meeting the team to picking and packing the turquoise parcels of joy down in the warehouse. And then, of course, there was the sneak peak of the new collection before stepping in front of the camera for a very special photo shoot – our first ever with ‘real women’ and definitely not our last. We think our Colour Club ladies look fabulous in our new styles in their seasonal palettes; read on to find out a little more about them…

Meryl, Spring, carehome owner, Weymouth

Favourites from the new collection? The Print Culottes and Roxy in Red Coral, which is my hands-down favourite colour.
Three words that sum up your style? Elegant, glamorous, natural.
All-time favourite Kettlewell pieces? The Lulu, without a shadow of a doubt – I have one in practically every colour. It’s really flattering, hides all my lumps and bumps and gives me a leaner silhouette.
What do you love about the Colour Club? It’s shown me how to put items together – not just styles but colour combinations, too. And it’s such a kind, supportive group; if you’re ever feeling a bit down, you get such a surge of love and positivity.

Clare, Autumn, stained-glass artist and IT trainer from Redhill, Surrey

Favourites from the new collection? The Betty Cowl in Electric Lime, Culottes in Watercolour print.
Three words that sum up your style? Flamboyant; experimental; creative.
All-time favourite Kettlewell pieces? The Ruched Skirt and Betty Cowl – they work so well together.
What do you love about the Colour Club? It’s been wonderful to meet people who adore style and colour as much as I do. It’s also made me more confident. I travelled to the shoot in sequins and yellow. I’d never have done before!

Latha, Winter, Financial Controller, Southampton

Favourites from the new collection? The Roxy Jacket in Electric Blue, Lace Cami in Chinese Blue and the Louella dress – I love the scale of the print and it will be easy to dress up and down.
Which three words sum up your style?
Romantic, pared-back, colourful.
Your all-time favourite Kettlewell pieces?
The Lulu and Roxy. I work as an accountant and the whole concept of wearing a blazer has largely disappeared from the workplace, so the Roxy is the perfect alternative.
What do you love about the Colour Club?
It’s like having my best friends with me all the time. I’ve made lifelong friends.

Marieke, Summer, community café volunteer, Manchester

Favourites from the new collection? The Erin Jacket in Orchid and Willow paisley scarf.
Three words that sum up your style? Casual, stylish, effortless.
All-time favourite Kettlewell pieces? The Supersoft Sweatshirt – I have it in Blackcurrant, Mole, Campanula and Mint – and the Chloe Jacket and Suede Belt.
What do you love about the Colour Club? It was my salvation during lockdown. We started off just talking about colour but now we’ve become invested in each other’s lives. It’s like being part of a big family.

My granddaughters, 5 and 8, love to play dress-up with my clothes. I imagine bringing Latha, Marieke, Clare and Meryl into the warehouse to explore the racks, must have prompted the same excitement my granddaughters feel when I let them lose in my closet. It has been so much fun to have communicated with all of them in the KW Club and lived vicariously with them as visited Kettlewell headquarters.

Although retired and older than the Fab Four, have so enjoyed the run up to their visit to KWHQ, all the fun, info and pics. Love all the colourful posts in the KWC, positive vibes and creativity of the ladies! Long may it continue. Thank you.
