Melissa's top five summer picks

Melissa with her five top picks (and wearing two other favourites - the Zoe V Neck and Geri Print Skirt!)

As we start emerging from months of lockdown life, I’ve never craved summer more. I can almost feel the warmth of the sunshine as I imagine those long, lazy lunches, evening barbecues and trips to the beach. As I browse through the new summer styles, I know exactly what I’ll be wearing. Tricky as it is to whittle down a favourites list, here are my top picks from the collection, and how I’ll be styling them. I look forward to hearing which colourful styles will be finding their way into your basket too!

Ruched Halterneck in Lime

Destined to become my ‘dress-up, dress-down’ go-to – perfect with shorts on the beach or smart with jeans, heels and a jazzy pair of earrings in the evening.

How I’ll wear it: with a Cashmere Gauze Stole in Pink Geranium to cover my arms when the temperature drops.

Lydia Linen Tee in Pink Fizz

Hands-down my favourite light summer tee in my favourite Spring pink. I love the texture, loose, floaty fit and pretty cap sleeves.

How I’ll wear it: over a Lace Cami, with either jeans, paperbag shorts or the Weekend Skirt.

Romana Shirt in Green Teal

I just love this shirt – it’s so cool, light and floaty and appeals to my natural side. I tend to avoid loose shirts as an hourglass, but as this shirt is made of tencel jersey, it’s sheer and lightweight enough to give definition.

How I’ll wear it: with white jeans and a Long Vest in Apple Mint or Pink Fizz for an instant colour pop.

Supersoft Sweatshirt in Sunshine Yellow

I love this sunny colour and can’t wait for the coral colourway to arrive at the end of the month. I always size down to a small in this style because  it shows my shape when it’s neater fitting. Such a versatile, comfortable team player in your wardrobe.

How I’ll wear it: with a Weekend Skirt in Twilight Blue.

Weekend Skirt in Pansy

The perfect everyday midi skirt in so many ways: not too full, not too much fabric, great texture and 100% cotton so it doesn’t create the dreaded VPL. Oh, and the elasticated waist means it’s incredibly comfy too.

How I’ll wear it: with my Lydia Tee in Pink Fizz and a gold metallic belt to break up the look.

Although the Lydia linen tshirt is nice, my favourite linen tshirt was the Amy (with short sleeves....much more flattering!) Will Amy ever make a reappearance?! I do hope so.....😉

Why say white for Spring or Black..

Should spring not be tea dying..

I was told no white or black on bottom even..

TRUE to season colours.

My season is spring as is Melissa’s. Do you recommend optic white jeans, shorts and denim skirts for springs as opposed to

Ivory or cream? Isn’t winter the only season that can wear pure white?

Thank you

Kettlewell Colours: Technically only Winters would wear Optic White next to the face but for bottom halves, as cream/ivory jeans are trickier to find you can probably get away with White.

My top 5? I love the Weekend Skirt and have just added Chinese Blue and Hot Pink to last year's Raspberry. I still have the much lighter jersey versions from a few summers ago, but prefer the new, heavier cotton look. Flattering, versatile and in gorgeous colours, it is a real summer wardrobe staple. I also love the Verona Cardi and the Ribbed V Neck Pullover. This season's Sylvie Culottes are my favourite trousers and it has to be really baking hot to part me from my Florence Infinity Scarves! Time for all those icy Winter pastels.

Great choices Melissa and I would like some of those choices even though I am a Summer. A request please. The linen Lydia T is great but any chance another time there could be a version with sleeves ending nearer the elbow as not everyone wants the tops of their arms on show.

If I were a Spring, I’d be adding a lot of things to my basket!
