Melissa meets Tricia Cusden, creator of Look Fabulous Forever

Many of you will know that I started Kettlewell not only because I found it impossible to buy warm, bright shades in the wintertime but because I also wanted to help women get dressed in the morning. I had spent years of my working life in London staring into my wardrobe, full of black, grey and navy and searching for inspiration of what to wear. I realised that simple tops in good colours could bring an outfit instantly to life and make them feel good at the same time. Personally, I’ve felt more energetic and had a lot more confidence since embracing my colours, and I’ll share my incredible experience with anyone who will listen!

Just as important as wearing clothes in your right colours is finding the correct make-up to complement your skin tone, so I was intrigued to meet Tricia Cusden, beauty vlogger and creator of Look Fabulous Forever – a cosmetics brand developed specially for mature skins which divides its make-up ranges into warm and cool palettes.

A former management trainer, Tricia decided to launch LFF in 2013 at the age of 65 to encourage older women to celebrate and value their ageing faces, rather than, as she says, ‘throw in the towel... and become invisible’. Featuring real older women in her videos and makeover photos, she shows how restoring the contrast between skin and features and the definition of brows, eyes, cheeks and lips can make a world of difference to the way women look and feel about themselves. I can thoroughly recommend taking a look because the before and afters are amazing!

Tricia is a natural behind the camera (there’s a good reason why she is frequently invited on to TV to share her make-up know-how) and has become an inspiration for a whole generation of women. Like me, she believes that age is no barrier to looking good and feeling great – you just need to discover the colours that suit your skin tone and give you that natural glow.

In the first of our two vlogs, we asked Tricia to model her favourite pieces from the AW19 collection in her ‘cool’ palette, and to talk through her colour choices (we think we may have a new convert to emerald, which many Winters shy away from, without realising how that the right shade of green can look amazing). In the second, I got to experience the LFF magic when I had a makeover in my ‘warm' colours.

Melissa's Makeover

All the products used in the video are available to buy on the Look Fabulous Forever website.

Melissa's Three Favourites

Lustrous Colour Lipstick in True Coral: My skin is very warm and even coral pinks can look a little cool on my lips. This is a lovely shade because it’s a very warm coral as well as being bright which works perfectly for me as a Spring.

Smooth Like Silk Face Primer - I’m relatively new to primers as I couldn’t see the point of having to use another product. Now I realise what a difference it makes, not only for smoothing and plumping your skin but it also makes the foundation or tinted moisturiser so much easier to apply.

Light Look Beauty Balm- this is such a pretty, natural colour and gave my skin a more even toned and fresh faced look; just as I like it!

Very interesting blog - and helpful tips too. I have just had a makeover with LFF in Wimbledon and really enjoyed the experience and would recommend it. Now I want to buy Melissa's dress too!

Love the whole blog. The brilliant blue jacket is beautiful. Is it Kettlewell?

Kettlewell Colours: Do you mean the Brilliant Blue Merino Infinity Scarf which Tricia wore over her own navy coat? If so, then yes that is a Kettlewell Scarf

I love the colours available from Kettlewell. I am a spring and have several of the lovely jumpers and tops. It's so nice to be able to buy bright colours that suit me. I have also been a long time fan of Look Fabulous Forever makeup, which again enables you to have colours to suit your skin tone.
