Jo's sale picks - wear now, wear later!

HOW has sale time come around again so quickly? I feel like I only just went through the excitement of a new season sneak peek, showcasing and picking my favourites from the new collection, and suddenly it's sale time, and before you know it even the countdown to the autumn/winter collection will be on!

And that's not the last time you're going to hear me say autumn/winter today, even though we're bang in the middle of summer. When considering sale purchases, it's always best to think not just about how they'll work for the current season, but how they can work as the season (and weather) shifts, because who wants to buy a lovely new wardrobe addition and then have to store it for half a year only a couple of months later? With that in mind, I'm going to be not only styling my four (one for each season) sale favourites today, but also looking at how they can be styled as the temperature drops later on in the year.

Ella Spot Skirt

Wear it later: Ella Spot Skirt Hetta Pima Long TeeChloe JacketCashmere Gauze Stole

Style Notes: The Ella Spot Skirt is a dream to style for the entire year; simply pick out the lighter, brighter shades from your seasonal version of the skirt for warm weather dressing, and opt for deeper, cosier tones as the weather turns.

Ruched Halterneck

Wear it now: Ruched HalterneckPrint CulottesShort Tie Wrap

Wear it later: Ruched Halterneck |  Chloe JacketCashmere Gauze Stole

Style notes: Summer is simple, but a sleeveless top might not feel like the most obvious transitional piece. Panic not; the halterneck creates a perfect colour splash layering piece under a wrap once the weather is too cold for just a camisole. The Chloe Jacket and Cashmere Gauze stole add extra cosy vibes.

Long Cascade Wrap

Wear it now: Long Cascade Wrap |  Ruched SkirtCara V NeckClassic Metallic Belt

Wear it later:  Long Cascade WrapPalazzo Pants |  Silky Roll NeckCashmere Gauze Stole

Style notes: Use your long cascade to add swish and glamour to a simple skirt and top combo for summer evenings, and when the temperature drop use it to layer up for the cosiest of laid back outfits, with enough contrast and brightness for the now-routine family Zoom call!

Eliza Top

Wear it now: Eliza Top | Cotton Weekend Skirt | Suede Tassel Bag | Halo Necklace

Wear it Later: Eliza Top | Blue Jeans | Cotton Cashmere Wrap | Cashmere Gauze Stole

Style notes: Pair your Orchid Eliza with lightweight fabrics and bright colours for summer (try it with white jeans or shorts), but add texture and layers and you've got the perfect transitional piece - deeper colours make the otherwise summery colour feel entirely cool weather appropriate too.

I’ve been thinking the same as Deb with regards to the Eliza sleeves. But I think I will wear my 2 Elizas under one of my many supersoft sweatshirts with the band showing underneath and not worry about the sleeves! Jude x

Some great ideas. But find the sleeves of the Eliza a problem to layer.

It is always the bottom half of an outfit that never fits me so makes styling the tops nigh impossible. Trousers, skirts and dresses often either too short, or ankle length! Beautiful for the right people.

Great idea & inspiration. 🍁
