Colour of the month - Cerise Pink

And just like that, we're in May! With thoughts of cherry blossom and ice cream sundaes on the horizon, there was only one logical choice for this month's colour of the month. Cerise Pink is an unashamedly bright and beautiful pink, ready to embrace the promise of more tropical weather to come. Do you love pink? Does it love you? Read on to find out whether this month's colour of the month is a winner for you.

Can I wear it?

Cerise Pink is very definitely a cool (blue) toned colour. Although both warm and cool pinks exist, they are markedly different. While the warm versions have a golden, peachy undertone, cool toned pinks encompass everything from soft rose through to deep plum, all with a slight blueish tint. Cerise Pink isn't as obviously 'blue' as some of the plummier pinks, but this bright shade of pink still falls into the cool palette.

It also works on both cool toned seasonal palettes - Summer and Winter - as although it is clear and bright enough for Winters when worn in contrast (with, for example, navy or white), it also works for the softer Summers when paired with tonal shades (like similar pinks or mid-greys). Read on for more information on how to wear it for your seasonal palette.

If you want to know more about how colours can work on more than one season, this post on universal colours will give you all the information you need. And if you're not sure which seasonal palette you belong to, our colour quiz will give you the information you need to get started with seasonal colour palettes.

Your alternative - Autumn

Cerise Pink is too cool and too bright for your warm, soft colouring. Stick instead to a beautifully soft, golden hued pink which still retains some brightness and depth of colour. Coral suits warmer toned Leaf/True Autumns, while Watermelon is perfect for Deep/Blue Autumns and those feeling a little bolder this summer!

Your alternative - Spring

As with the Autumns, a warmer pink such as Tropical Pink or Flamingo Pink is ideal, although Blue/Bright Springs will also feel confident with the very-nearly-but-not-quite-cool-toned Shocking Pink.

Surprised and delighted with my Lulu layered top. Even better than I thought it would be, great weight and hangs perfectly.

I wasn't sure about Cerise Pink in case it was too sugary for me. The French Navy and Stone scarf really tones it down. Looks very chic! Thanks for more good ideas and advice.
